in response to jose's post, because my comment was too long to leave as a comment...
hmm.. yea, it doesn't make sense to ask, since technically you'd be able to search it, unless unsearchable because of privacy settings.
BUT maybe it is out of courtesy. an indirect asking of permission, or rather a 'WARNING: We will be checking your facebook - now would be a great time to make your incriminating photos unviewable by anyone but yourself!'
it's also interesting, because the CCC has recently added a CCC person. the group didn't allow for all the awesome functions necessary to reach out to all the students, so i made a CCC person. then i realized, a CCC 'fan' page would've been great, but i thought having one of each would've been too much. and for your work environment, i don't think it's necessary to have a fb. but on campus, facebook has shown to be an effective way to get the message out there. it is a HUGE publicity tool. however, the lines between keeping it personal v. professional are blurring. as staff now, my settings have changed. and as someone on staff, it is interesting to read what students have to say on their statuses... especially student leaders.
also, i'm disgusted by the fact that suddenly, photos are taken for facebook tagging. in art, we learn about photos, the history, the purpose, and the function of photos... how they create a reality, are the reality, or become the reality.. and yeah.. i could go on for days....
