A 3 hour tour

SO.... it's been exactly 1 year since I've been laid off, and while I can't say the last year has been professionally productive, it has been amazing. At this time last year, I honestly thought the life I had planned was over, and depending on what you think of me, it is. The last year has been humbling, humiliating, discouraging, and often times depressing. Right now I feel like everything and anything is possible ( I really hate bringing up KG and the 2008 Celtics, but it was unavoidable).  This is a good thing, it's been a fun year. Here's to not knowing where I'll be in 12 months; I'm excited.

Thanks for sticking around.

ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

Employed.

Back! I got a job!

Facts:
I am a Production Assistant (Temp) for 2K Games.

We're working on Mafia 2.

My boss and his other assistant are in Santa Monica for a few months to wrap up the game.

They have company paid for apartments in Santa Monica for the time being.

I get to live with the other assistant if I want to. It's ok, he's my friend from high school. He also got me the job.

We work weird hours, usually from 2PM to 4AM. It's OK, because I get overtime. For example, I just got back to the apartment 20 minutes ago.

I also have a slight chance of this turning this into a year long job rather than a 1 month temp. The company is based in Novato, 30 miles north of San Francisco.

Monday

Best thing all week. It's Monday, and I'm sure of it.

Watching it reminded me of this sticker. My dad bought it when we moved here. I didn't realize those funny waves spelled something til well into middle school.

FYI, Mickey's telling you it was 95 this afternoon.

Assistant Transportation Engineer Job Market...

So today I got an email about a job I applied for. Or so it seemed.

Hi Donson,

I am checking in on your employment situation. If you are in the Banking/Mortgage job market or if you are seeking career contacts in the Hacienda Heights area, please visit this site...

This employer-like email was obviously generated by information I submitted to one of the several job search engines by an algorithm someone was too lazy to program to sound more human-like. "this site" links to a linkedin-like job networking registration page.

How are there more job search/professional networking sites than there are jobs? I sign up for a new jobsearchnetworking site every time I apply to a job. I essentially have to submit 2 sets of information for every 1 job. Consequently the movie Brazil is not as far fetched as I thought. This is ridiculous and depressing.
